Job summary

SOLV Energy designs, builds and maintains solar, storage, and high voltage substations with nationwide reach. This SCADA engineering role supports design, development and delivery of the SOLV SCADA solution and EPC projects.

The position is hybrid with in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR or fully remote. It involves coordinating with customers and field personnel, adhering to safety and quality standards, and advancing platform integration across projects.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience in renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Ignition SCADA platform experience is required.
• Familiar with PLC environments from major vendors.
• Experience with Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA protocols is desirable.
• Ability to read diagrams and schematics for power, control, and networking systems.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop SCADA integration components for solar PV and energy storage projects.
• Define design standards and best practices with the team.
• Review project requirements and ensure all deliverables are met.
• Create device lists, HMI assets, test plans, and commissioning checklists.
• Program and commission SCADA servers, historians, and HMIs.
• Review closeout documents to verify contractual deliverables.
• Provide intermediate technical support for diverse SCADA configurations.
• Engage with customers and partners in technical discussions.
• Maintain and expand the knowledge base.
• Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot plant monitoring and control systems.
• Coordinate on-site commissioning with customers and field staff.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on platform development and data integration.
• Report project status to the OTS PM team and support risk mitigation.
• Uphold NERC compliance and governance in programming standards.
• Assist SOLV Operations center with integrations.
