Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an HV SCADA Engineer II to support design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of HV SCADA systems for utility-scale renewables and substations. Remote option or office locations in Bend, OR; San Diego, CA; or Raleigh, NC, with details discussed at interview.

The role requires 2–4 years in SCADA, strong drawing interpretation, and experience with RTAC, HMI, and industrial protocols. Occasional travel and adherence to safety standards are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2 - 4 years of SCADA engineering experience (experience with substation SCADA systems preferred).
• Ability to read and understand engineering design drawings including Electrical Single-line diagrams, Equipment Layout Drawings, Communications Diagrams & Panel Drawings.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters in power distribution.
• Experience with programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
• Experience with SEL acSELerator RTAC and acSELerator Quickset software.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA or other HMI design software.
• Understanding of SCADA networks using Fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet TCP/IP.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA system requirements for substations on utility-scale projects including solar, storage, and wind.
• Support HV SCADA design, development, and drawings to meet project specs.
• Verify substation point lists against relay and meter settings.
• Program and commission RTACs, Phasor Data Concentrators, and HMI systems.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and field technicians for commissioning and installation.
• Compare project drawings to site conditions to ensure correct installation.
• Travel up to ~20% for onsite work.
• Learn and apply SOLV’s software and hardware tools.
• Work with PM to report status, risks, and mitigations.
• Promote NERC compliance and governance in programming and commissioning.
