Job summary

SOLV Energy, LLC is seeking an HV SCADA Engineer II to provide intermediate engineering support for the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of high voltage SCADA systems on utility-scale renewable and substations projects. The role offers full remote work or placement in Bend, OR, San Diego, CA, or Raleigh, NC with ongoing interview discussions about location expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years SCADA engineering experience, substations preferred.
• Ability to read electrical drawings including single-line, equipment layouts, and diagrams.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters.
• Experience coordinating with utility companies for interconnects and standards.
• Programming experience: C, C++, Java, Python, IEC 61131-3 ST.
• Experience with SEL acSELerator RTAC and Quickset.
• Ignition SCADA or similar HMI software.
• SCADA networks: fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet.
• Experience with PLC environments (SEL, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson).
• PV solar monitoring knowledge helpful.
• Understanding of Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA.
• Ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA system requirements for substations connected to renewable energy projects.
• Support HV SCADA design development and drawings to meet specifications.
• Verify substation point lists against relay and meter settings files.
• Program and commission RTACs, Phasor Data Concentrators, and HMIs.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between substation devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and field technicians for on-site commissioning.
• Compare project drawings to site conditions to ensure correct installation.
• Travel for this role is required, approximately 20% on-site.
• Learn and identify software/hardware used by SOLV.
• Work with project management to report status, risks, and mitigations.
• Promote NERC compliance in programming, commissioning, documentation, reporting, and training.
• Provide feedback to product development teams to improve SOLV SCADA Platform.
• Maintain a safe working environment per safety standards.
