Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer to support the design, development and delivery of the SOLV SCADA solution for utility-scale solar, battery storage and substation projects. This hybrid role allows regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR, or full remote work with details discussed in the interview process.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define standards, implement project requirements, and provide intermediate technical support for SCADA

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of SCADA engineering experience in renewable energy or industrial/utility scale PV solar, BESS, or wind; proficiency with Python.
• Ignition SCADA platform experience.
• Relational databases and SCADA applications familiarity.
• Familiarity with PLC environments (Schweitzer RTAC, Allen‑Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i) and associated hardware.
• Experience with SCADA networks installation/commissioning (fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
• Knowledge of industrial protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Ability to read and develop electrical, control, and civil schematics.
• Ability to coordinate with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Experience with project management tools and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop SCADA components and systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects (Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage).
• Define and enforce product design standards and best practices aligned with company goals.
• Review and implement project-specific requirements for scope.
• Create device points lists, HMI assets, and commissioning test plans.
• Program and commission SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI systems.
• Review closeout documentation to verify contractual deliverables.
• Provide intermediate technical support for diverse SCADA configurations.
• Engage in technical discussions with customers and partners.
• Maintain centralized knowledge base and assist in troubleshooting.
• Coordinate on-site commissioning with customers and field technicians.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for platform development and data integration.
• Produce project status reports and support risk mitigation.
