Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a High Voltage Preconstruction Project Manager to lead preconstruction for HV electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, BESS, and industrial power systems.

This fully remote role asks for strong skills in estimation, scheduling, and client coordination from concept through handoff. You will develop execution strategies, manage budgets, and guide procurement while coordinating with internal teams and clients across the project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical construction, high-voltage projects, estimating, or project management.
• 3+ years of experience leading preconstruction activities preferred.
• Experience with substations, transmission lines, utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, or industrial electrical projects.
• Experience managing projects exceeding $10M preferred.
• Familiarity with high-voltage substations, transmission and distribution systems, utility interconnection requirements, electrical codes and EPC/design-build delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts for high-voltage electrical projects ranging from 12kV through 500kV+ systems.
• Oversee project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability reviews.
• Develop project execution strategies that align with client objectives and company goals.
• Coordinate preconstruction deliverables from project inception through construction turnover.
• Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates.
• Analyze engineering designs, specifications, and bid documents.
• Review labor productivity, equipment requirements, and material pricing.
• Develop quantity takeoffs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain estimating databases and market pricing trends.
• Serve as the primary preconstruction point of contact for clients, utilities, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in project pursuit and proposal presentations.
• Facilitate project kickoff meetings and stakeholder alignment sessions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify project risks related to scope, schedule, procurement, labor, permitting, and site conditions.
• Lead constructability reviews and value-engineering initiatives.
• Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
• Review project execution plans for safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to develop detailed project schedules.
• Identify long-lead equipment requirements, including transformers, breakers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Monitor critical path activities and project milestones.
• Support procurement strategy development.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals.
• Develop bid packages and scopes of work.
• Analyze supplier capabilities and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, procurement, and business development teams.
• Ensure alignment between project estimates, schedules, and execution plans.
• Facilitate smooth handoff from preconstruction to construction operations.
