Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder for a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding with adherence to APCs and reporting standards. The position requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials and at least two years in hospital coding.

Excellent communication, time management, and ability to work remotely are essential. Compensation reflects an hourly wage with benefits and ongoing education support.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required.
• Minimum 2 years hospital coding experience.
• Experience with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Strong communication and time management, remote-work capable.
• Proficiency with encoding/abstracting software.
• Must pass HIPAA exams annually.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation.
• Enter coded data for hospital reporting requirements.
• Communicate improvement opportunities to staff for follow up.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.
• Collaborate with teammates and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
