Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders to join our remote team. You will review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedure codes, and ensure accurate APC and discharge dispositions while maintaining high productivity.

The ideal candidate holds AHIMA or AAPC credentials and has 3+ years in hospital coding, with proficiency across Same Day Surgery, ED, and E/M coding. Strong communication and ability to work remotely are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting roles.
• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required (RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/CIC).
• Proficiency with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions; ED and ancillary coding.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adept at remote work and time management.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software is required.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign diagnoses and procedure codes.
• Sequence codes accurately based on documentation and guidelines.
• Enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding improvements and issues to relevant personnel.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Participate in Datavant education meetings and trainings.
• Demonstrate initiative and professional judgment in duties.
• Collaborate with hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement matters.
