Job summary

Capital Health seeks a professional medical coder to join Capital Health Medical Group. You will review documentation to ensure accurate CPT/E/M coding and educate providers on proper documentation to support correct codes.

Role requires CPC/CCS-P credentials and 2+ years in professional coding, with ICD-10-CM, CPT, CM and HCPCS experience; strong communication and teamwork with revenue cycle teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in health information management preferred.
• CPC or CCS-P required; physician coding certification preferred.
• Two years’ experience in professional coding; ICD-10-CM, CPT, CM and HCPCS experience favored.
• Strong verbal and written communication; knowledge of coding guidelines and laws.

Responsibilities

• Reviews medical record documentation for accurate diagnosis, CPT and E/M coding.
• Monitors E/M codes to ensure documentation supports medical necessity and compliance.
• Delivers education material to promote clear, accurate documentation and coding standards.
• Meets or exceeds departmental accuracy and productivity standards.
• Communicates opportunities and monitoring results clearly to providers.
• Partners with revenue cycle teams to resolve coding-related issues.
• Supports pre-bill edits and assists in appeals when needed.
• Acts as subject matter expert for coding and documentation improvement.
