Job summary

Capital Health seeks a qualified Medical Coder to review and assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes for professional claims across hospital and outpatient settings.

You will apply AMA and CMS guidelines, validate documentation, and collaborate with billing and revenue teams to ensure accurate reimbursement and data integrity. Certification (CPC-A/CPC/CCS-P) and 2 years of coding experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates preferred.
• CPC-A, CPC, or CCS-P certification required.
• Two years' physician coding experience preferred; ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical coding guidelines and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign CPT-4 procedure codes and modifiers for OR and procedure room cases.
• Validate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ensure appropriate E/M coding.
• Collaborate with billing and revenue teams to resolve issues and improve accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with AMA and CMS coding conventions and policies.
• Identify documentation gaps and escalate clarifications as needed.
• Act as subject matter expert for professional coding.
