This professional coder role supports CHMG by assigning CPT-4, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes for hospital and outpatient services, ensuring compliant documentation and prompt pre-bill edits.

Required CPC-A/CPC/CCS-P certification with a minimum of two years in physician coding; an associate degree in health information management is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: CPC-A, CPC, or CCS-P is required.
• Associate degree in health information management preferred.
• Two years’ physician coding experience preferred.
• ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding experience preferred.
• One year surgical coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to assign CPT-4 procedure codes and modifiers for OR and procedure room cases.
• Validate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and appropriate E/M coding for cases.
• Meet accuracy and productivity standards and ensure coding compliance.
• Collaborate with billing and revenue integrity teams to resolve issues.
• Address pre-bill edits timely to minimize DNFB.
• Act as subject matter expert for professional coding and related queries.
