Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking a business developer to grow the role into a national leadership position within the firm. You will build relationships with private sector clients, expand service offerings, and work across the water and wastewater sector.

The role offers remote work with office options and 25–50% travel, plus a comprehensive benefits package. The candidate should have a technical engineering background with 5+ years of relevant experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field plus at least five years of relevant experience, including three years in a related industry.
• If no degree, at least nine years of relevant experience, including five years in a related industry.
• Experience in water/wastewater services is a plus.
• Proven ability to develop new business and manage client relationships.
• Strong time and expense management and deadline-driven work style.

Responsibilities

• Learn and understand the Food & Beverage and other manufacturing industries to support customers’ water and wastewater needs.
• Identify and engage with current and potential customers; follow up to improve satisfaction and secure repeat business.
• Communicate with clients and internal staff via web conferences, calls, LinkedIn, and in-person meetings.
• Maintain CRM with forecast dates, costs, probabilities, and project durations; support marketing with proposal deadlines.
• Draft technically written proposals using SME insights, vendors, and partners.
• Coordinate and assist with go/no-go and proposal reviews; support SME in tasks.
• Participate in national trade associations and events; stay updated on market drivers and funding.
• Utilize AI tools to optimize business development activities.
