ABB's Distribution Solutions Division seeks a Senior Technical Business Developer to expand the Grid Automation portfolio in the U.S. market, bridging advanced grid technologies with a clear market penetration strategy and engaging utilities and key partners.

This remote role is open nationwide in the US, with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX. candidates should bring 9+ years in technical business development, deep utility market knowledge, and experience with SaaS models; travel up to 30%

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• 9+ years of experience in technical business development, preferably in grid automation or power systems.
• Deep understanding of U.S. utility market dynamics, standards (IEEE, IEC 61850), and digital substation architectures.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with SaaS or subscription-based business models in the energy sector.
• Familiarity with DERMS, DLR, and network state estimation technologies.
• Ability to travel up to 30% - domestic and international - may be required.

Responsabilités

• Market strategy leadership - Drive U.S. growth by identifying new utility/industrial automation opportunities and shaping market penetration strategy.
• Technical engagement - Act as a gridautomation SME, lead presales technical activities, and support solution design across architectures, protection systems, and integration workflows.
• Standards influence - Contribute to vPAC and IEEE working groups, representing the company to help shape emerging grid automation standards.
• Ecosystem & innovation - Build strategic partnerships, represent the company at industry forums, and channel field insights to evolve offerings.
