Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team, reporting to the Controller. This pivotal role supports day-to-day accounting, month-end close, and internal controls in a remote-first environment.

You will perform reconciliations, prepare journal entries, investigate discrepancies, and assist in financial reporting. Strong Excel and experience with Sage Intacct are preferred; excellent communication and independence are valued traits.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance with 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions).
• Experience with ERP system like Sage Intacct preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently on deliverables to achieve accurate results.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and maintain excellent communication regarding deliverables.
• Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with members of the senior management team and others within the Company.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP standards.
