Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Core Automation team to architect and build Agentic AI systems that power customer support and compliance at scale.

You will lead production-ready AI platforms, mentor engineers, and partner with product, compliance, and operations to translate business needs into robust, scalable solutions with a focus on reliability and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• 12+ years backend software engineering experience with Go or similar
• Proven track record shipping LLM-based or Agentic AI to production
• Architect distributed systems handling massive scale
• Partner with compliance, operations, and customer support to define requirements
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction
• Use of generative AI with human oversight to improve efficiency, cost and quality

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's customer support and compliance automation
• Architect a reusable platform of primitives, orchestration tools, and interfaces for other teams to adopt Agentic AI
• Drive cross-functional alignment with product, compliance, and operations stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Lead technical strategy for moving LLM-based applications from prototype to production, including grounding and reliability at scale
• Mentor engineers across the team on system design, coding standards, and AI/ML best practices
