Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to architect Agentic AI systems that automate customer support and compliance. You will build a reusable platform of primitives and orchestration tools enabling multiple domains to leverage AI capabilities at scale.

You will drive production-readiness for LLM-based applications, reduce grounding and hallucination, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product, compliance, and operations teams to deliver measurable efficiency gains.

Qualifications

• 12+ years backend software engineering experience with strong Golang or similar systems languages.
• Proven track record shipping LLM-based or Agentic AI applications to production with measurable improvements.
• Experience architecting distributed systems handling massive scale and ambiguity to deliver high-impact solutions.
• Ability to partner with compliance, operations and customer support to translate needs into scalable platforms.
• Mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows, cost and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's customer support and compliance automation.
• Architect a reusable platform of primitives, orchestration tools, and interfaces for other teams to adopt Agentic AI.
• Drive cross-functional alignment to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead strategy for getting LLM-based applications from prototype to production with grounding and reliability at scale.
• Mentor engineers on system design, coding standards, and AI/ML best practices.
