Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Core Automation team to architect and build Agentic AI systems that scale across the company. You will own the technical direction for production AI systems and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, grounded AI services.

In this role you will design APIs, orchestration layers, and evaluation frameworks, mentor engineers, and help shape the future of automated customer support and compliance at Coinbase.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with distributed systems experience
• Experience with LLM-based applications, grounding, and guardrails
• Deep expertise in APIs, orchestration, and evaluation for AI systems

Responsibilities

• Architect and build Agentic AI systems powering Coinbase's compliance automation and Operations
• Design APIs and measurement frameworks to ensure grounded, low-hallucination AI
• Lead architecture for distributed AI automation and define strategic roadmaps
• Build reusable primitives and orchestration solutions to scale AI automation
• Mentor engineers on AI system design, coding standards, and production readiness for LLM-based apps
