Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a founding engineer to embed within Compliance, spearheading automation of regulatory workflows and AI-enabled tooling. You will translate complex compliance processes into engineering requirements, prototype rapid solutions, and guide the tooling strategy with a strong emphasis on auditability and risk management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering delivering production systems in stakeholder-heavy environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, prompts, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and HITL design.
• Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, and audit-ready data handling.
• Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration, handoffs, escalation, and auditability.
• Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded advisory in compliance-tech/fintech.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable gains.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the default foundation before net-new builds.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership, translating workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and evaluate internal vs vendor solutions.
• Ensure automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and regulator-defensible with proper controls.
• Drive adoption through educational sessions and continuous feedback loops.
