Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a seasoned software engineer to join the Compliance team inside the Office of the CTO, acting as a founding engineer for automation initiatives. You will surface high-impact workflows, prototype on Coinbase's AI platform, and translate regulatory needs into concrete engineering work.

You'll embed with Compliance leaders and frontline teams, define build-vs-buy strategies, and ensure auditable, regulator-ready outputs while driving adoption across the organization in a

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping production systems in stakeholder-heavy environments.
• Experience deploying LLM-based apps with guardrails and human-in-the-loop.
• Ability to translate compliance workflows into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring and sanctions screening.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership to surface automation opportunities with high business impact.
• Prototype quickly on Coinbase's AI platform as the default foundation.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership, translating regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and drive execution.
• Ensure all automated outputs are auditable, defensible to regulators, and have human-in-the-loop controls.
• Drive adoption through knowledge-sharing sessions and feedback loops.
