Job summary

General Motors is seeking Field Service Engineers to provide on-site automotive, business support to GM’s retail and wholesale communities. The role focuses on diagnosing repairs, supporting dealerships, and reducing warranty expense while coordinating with regional teams and TAC escalation.

The position offers remote work with occasional dealership visits across Albany, NY, and surrounding areas. Candidates should have 2–5 years of hands-on automotive service experience and strong communication

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of hands-on Automotive Dealership Service Department experience
• Valid driver’s license with clean record
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to manage, resolve, document, and close dispatch cases timely
• Ability to work with minimal direction and self-train to upgrade skills
• History of maintaining customer satisfaction across multi-location territory
• Ability to create and provide specialized training
• Excellent communication and time-management to prioritize critical services

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site professional automotive, business support to GM’s retail and wholesale communities.
• Diagnose and direct repairs on customer vehicles to mitigate repurchases and reduce warranty expense.
• Play a role in territory management and dealer comeback processes.
• Deliver in-dealership training and share technical information on tools and applications.
• Support dealers via phone or at dealership locations; respond to dispatch cases promptly.
• Report on dealership health and readiness to prevent buybacks.
• Assist dealer technician recruitment and retention in areas with shortages.
