Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to provide automotive technical support for GM’s dealer network across the Albany, NY region. This remote/onsite role requires occasional travel within a 50 mile radius, with primary duties involving diagnosing vehicle issues, advising dealerships, and coordinating field fixes to minimize warranty expense.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of extensive hands-on automotive dealership service department, vehicle diagnostic or repair experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Proficient user of MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
• Ability to manage, resolve, document, and close dispatch cases in the required time-frame.
• Ability to work with minimal direction and be responsible for self-training to maintain and increase skills.
• A history of maintaining customer satisfaction in a territory with multiple customer locations is desired.
• Ability to create and provide specialized training.
• Excellent communication skills and time management to successfully prioritize and deliver critical services.

Responsibilities

• Provide third-level, on-site support to resolve automotive technical issues escalated through GM TAC and FSE Dispatch.
• Maintain relationships with DMPS and BRM to mitigate repurchase and warranty expenses.
• Work with GM BRC to respond to dealers requesting repurchase support.
• Gather information on high-risk vehicles and assist dealers promptly.
• Review dealer comeback processes to ensure GM standards are met and drive improvements.
• Coordinate dealer training on Techline tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Address dealer concerns via phone or at the dealership location and follow through to resolution.
• Report on Dealership ‘State of Health’ relative to service readiness to prevent buybacks.
