Job summary

PowerSecure, Inc. is seeking a Field Application Engineer to drive adoption of our distributed energy solutions by influencing AEC firms at design and specification stages.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, embedding our solutions into Basis of Design and project specs to create pull-through. Responsibilities include developing strategic AEC relationships, providing technical sizing and performance modeling, and collaborating with sales and engineering to align positioning with our

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or systems engineering required.
• PE license preferred.
• 10 years’ experience engaging with AEC firms or similar experience.
• Direct experience producing or reviewing engineering designs.
• Understanding of Basis of Design documents, drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of schematic designs, EOR responsibilities and risk mitigation in design decisions.
• Experience with distributed energy resource products/services in consulting, EPC/design-build, or OEM contexts.
• Ability to discuss system architecture and performance tradeoffs with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting sales with technical justifications and pre-bid clarifications.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, customer focus, independence, adaptability, and willingness to travel extensively.
• Deep knowledge of distributed energy resource solutions and their value to utilities and C&I customers.
• Ability to translate PowerSecure’s value proposition clearly for customers and design teams.
• Strong client-needs orientation and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• AEC Engagement & Specification Influence: Develop target lists of strategic AEC firms, drive early engagement, and position solutions as basis of design.
• Technical Advisory & Design Support: Provide technical consultation during concept to detailed design, assist with sizing, performance modeling, and code compliance; review drawings and specs.
• Basis of Design & Standards Development: Incorporate products into master specs and manage conversion strategies.
• Internal Coordination: Align technical positioning with commercial strategy; support sales with technical clarifications; provide market feedback for roadmap.
