Job summary

Merck is seeking a Field Access Manager to act as the subject‑matter expert on access issues for healthcare professionals and organizations. This remote/field‑based role collaborates with patient support, market access, and field sales to ensure timely patient access to therapy.

You will analyze access issues, educate providers on benefit verification and prior authorization, and coordinate with hub vendors while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 7+ years in patient support, pharmaceutical/healthcare sales or operations, or reimbursement support.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures (Medicare Part B, Medicaid, commercial) and related access processes.
• Expertise in pharmaceutical compliance and HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
• Remote environment with 20-25% travel; must reside in the Ohio Valley assigned territory.
• Team player capable of collaborating with multiple sales reps, leadership, and internal colleagues.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage and influence multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and education to HCP accounts on patient access, including benefit verification and prior authorization.
• Analyze access trends and payer coverage.
• Identify and address barriers to patient access in cross‑functional collaboration.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders to support patient access to therapy.
• Monitor payer trends to address access barriers.
• Provide access information to HCP offices and educate field teams.
• Escalate and coordinate access issues with third parties including hub vendor.
• Support on Specialty Pharmacy issues and hub programs.
• Educate HCP offices on product coverage under commercial, Medicare, Medicaid.
• Answer payer-specific access questions and keep up with market dynamics.
• Act as SME on access and affordability across payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial).
• Educate HCPs on payer coverage changes impacting access.
• Support patient access with hub education resources and patient support offerings.
• Demonstrate knowledge of access resources and policies; attend national/regional meetings.
