Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking an FHA Claims Specialist to work remotely from home. You will prepare, file, and track HUD/federal claims, reconcile loan levels, and post timely updates per CMS guidelines.

The role requires mortgage servicing knowledge, attention to detail, and strong communication with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in mortgage servicing defaults, FHA claims experience, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience preferred.
• Previous FHA claims experience preferred.
• Understanding the loss mitigation and claims process.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to communicate with all levels.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to negotiate and balance viewpoints to serve CMS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately per guidelines.
• Follow up on all outstanding claim proceeds.
• Perform loan-level reconciliation of final claim proceeds and escrow.
• Provide posting instructions within 24 hours of receipt.
• Review and ensure timely completion of scheduled steps.
• Input completion date when action occurs.
• Obtain approvals and adjust dates when steps cannot be completed.
• Perform daily follow-up on claims activity.
• Inform Supervisor of trends, delays, or denials.
• Document all servicing actions in system notes.
• Ensure all claim documents are imaged timely.
• Maintain HUD audit file and related records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
