Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation FHA Claims Specialist to work remotely from home. You will prepare, file, and follow up on FHA HUD claims in accordance with investor and CMS guidelines, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

The approved target pay range is $23.00 to $26.00 per hour. The role requires 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience and FHA claims familiarity, with strong communication and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience preferred.
• Previous FHA claims experience preferred.
• Understanding of loss mitigation and claims process.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Strong interpersonal skills with teamwork and quality on loan evaluation.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and changing priorities.
• Ability to understand opposing viewpoints and negotiate for CMS interests.
• Ability to make decisions with moderate impact on immediate work unit.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately per guidelines.
• Follow up semi-daily on outstanding claim proceeds.
• Perform loan-level reconciliations of claim proceeds, escrow, and advances.
• Provide posting instructions within 24 hours of receipt.
• Review and ensure timely completion of scheduled steps.
• Input completion date when action occurs.
• Obtain approvals and modify dates when needed.
• Perform routine follow-up on a daily basis.
• Keep Supervisor informed of trends and problems including denials.
• Document servicing actions, delays, and phone conversations in system notes.
• Ensure claim documents are imaged timely.
• Maintain HUD audit file.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
