Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation FHA Claims Specialist to prepare, file, and follow up on FHA home retention claims, working remotely from home. The role requires adherence to investor and insurer guidelines and company policies.

The approved Target Pay range for this position is $23.00 to $26.00. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience and FHA claims knowledge, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience preferred.
• Previous FHA claims experience preferred.
• Understanding the loss mitigation and claims process.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and quality on loan evaluation.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and changing priorities.
• Ability to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints to serve CMS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately per guidelines.
• Follow up semi-daily on all outstanding claim proceeds.
• Perform a loan level reconciliation for final claim proceeds and escrow.
• Provide posting instructions for claim proceeds within 24 hours.
• Review and ensure timely completion of scheduled steps.
• Input the completion date when actions occur.
• Obtain approvals and adjust dates when steps cannot be completed.
• Perform routine daily follow-up.
• Inform supervisor of trends and problems such as denials or delays.
• Document servicing actions, delays, and calls in system notes.
• Ensure all claim documents are imaged timely.
• Maintain HUD audit file.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
