Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation FHA Claims Specialist to prepare, file, and follow up on HUD FHA claims from home. The role requires mortgage servicing and FHA claims experience, strong communication, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure timely processing and accurate reconciliations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience preferred.
• Previous FHA claims experience preferred.
• Understanding the loss mitigation and claims process.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and quality on loan evaluation.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately according to guidelines.
• Follow up on all outstanding claim proceeds.
• Perform loan level reconciliations for final claim proceeds vs. amounts paid and outstanding indebtedness.
• Provide posting instructions for claim proceeds within 24 hours of receipt.
• Review and ensure timely completion of regular steps in the process.
• Input completion dates as actions occur and adjust dates when needed.
• Obtain approvals and adjust schedules for pending steps.
• Daily routine follow-up and trend reporting to supervisor.
• Document servicing actions, delays, and calls in system notes.
• Image all claim documents timely and maintain HUD audit file.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
