Job summary

The SMX team is seeking a federal financial reporting specialist to advise on design, construction, and validation of a USSGL-aligned financial statement and reconciliation solution. You’ll work with accountants, analysts, solution architects and developers to deliver a best-in-class product for federal customers.

This contractor role can be either part-time or full-time and offers 100% remote work. Expect engagement with cross-functional teams, rigorous validation, and adherence to OMB A-136

Qualifications

• 7+ years of federal financial management experience, ideally at a federal agency or consultancy.
• Experience in federal financial statement preparation and/or auditing.
• Hands-on GTAS experience and USSGL crosswalk familiarity.
• Strong knowledge of FASAB, OMB Circulars, and budget/financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and validate data models, dimensions, and hierarchies for federal statements.
• Validate GTAS reconciliations, trial balance logic, and budgetary resources reporting.
• Explain functionality using mockups and process diagrams to non-government staff.
• Develop test plans and ensure statements and footnotes tie to source data.
