Job summary

SMX is seeking an experienced federal financial reporting specialist to advise on the design, construction, and validation of a FM QSMO-aligned financial statement and reconciliation solution for federal customers.

You will collaborate with accountants, analysts, architects and developers to ensure accurate, audit-ready reporting—covering USSGL crosswalks, GTAS validations, footnotes, and disclosures—while supporting remote, contractor-based work.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in federal financial management or federal consulting.
• Experience with federal financial statement prep or audits.
• Strong GTAS knowledge including trial balance submissions.
• Familiarity with USSGL crosswalks and OMB Circular A-123/136/11.
• Experience designing or validating financial statement footnotes.

Responsibilities

• Advise on design and validation of the data model and crosswalks.
• Validate GTAS crosswalks and trial balance logic.
• Ensure statements align with OMB A-136 and FASAB guidance.
• Develop and validate footnotes and disclosures.
• Create admin and end-user documentation and training materials.
• Assist during releases with testing and documentation.
