Job summary

SMX is seeking an experienced federal financial reporting specialist to advise on design, construction, and validation of a next-generation FM solution aligned with FM QSMO. You will collaborate with accountants, analysts, solution architects and developers to build and enhance the solution, with 100% remote work as a contractor.

The role demands 7+ years in federal financial management, deep knowledge of USSGL, GTAS, and OMB/FS standards, plus strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of federal financial management experience
• Demonstrated experience in federal financial statement preparation and/or auditing
• Familiarity with USSM.gov framework, Modernization Playbook, FIBF, QSMO
• Hands-on GTAS experience including trial balance submission and validations
• Working knowledge of OMB Circulars A-123, A-136 and A-11 and related guidance
• Strong knowledge of FASAB publications and footnote design
• Familiarity with FISCAM
• Excellent organizational and presentation skills
• Bachelor's degree in accounting; additional years of experience considered

Responsibilities

• Advise on design and construction of data models, dimensions and hierarchies for federal statements
• Validate USSGL crosswalk mappings to financial statement line items
• Confirm financial statements align with OMB A-136 and related guidance
• Design and validate footnotes and disclosures for statements
• Advise on reconciliation tools and GTAS-related logic
• Explain functionality with visual aids and process diagrams
• Conduct business process analysis and manage solution roadmap priorities
• Assist during releases with testing and documentation
