Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst to advance the BAS solution for federal customers. You will join a cross-functional team of budget SMEs, designers, and developers to expand a SAC-based planning and reporting platform. The role is full-time and 100% remote with travel <20% and a requirement for Public Trust clearance.

You will document processes, support BI needs, and ensure alignment across business, data, and tech teams while delivering high-quality artifacts and training materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, management or technology consulting, or operations analysis.
• Experience with federal government financial data, data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts on processes.
• Utilize BI tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve operations and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to align requirements and deliver.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases.
• Develop test plans and manage test execution.
