Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst to help advance the CFO Control Tower BAS solution for federal customers. The role is 100% remote with minimal travel (<20%) and requires a Public Trust clearance. You will work with a cross-functional team to understand client objectives, document processes, and design data-driven improvements that enhance budgeting, planning, and reporting.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in government financial data, analytics, and process improvement, plus excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels. This is a growth-focused, full-time consulting position with SMX's delivery team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, IS, data analytics, Public Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, or related consulting.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions that enhance efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Review policies, system data structures, and procedures to assess impacts on business and financial processes.
• Utilize BI and analytics tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions that improve operational effectiveness and reporting.
• Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to align requirements across business, data, and technology.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases (RTM, FDD, Design Docs, training guides).
• Develop test plans and business use cases; manage test execution.
