Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst to advance the CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend solution for federal customers. This 100% remote role requires a Public Trust clearance, up to 20% travel, and collaboration with designers, developers and budget SMEs to enhance and roll out a best-in-class planning application.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of federal financial management or related analysis, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics/reporting, management/technology consulting, or operations analysis/strategic planning.
• Experience with federal government financial data, data reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and strategic priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend solutions that enhance efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts on processes.
• Utilize BI tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions that improve operations and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to align requirements and delivery.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases.
• Develop test plans and manage test execution.
