Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Registered Professional Coder with hospital-based coding experience to ensure accurate and compliant professional and hospital coding across enterprise programs.

Desirable AHIMA/AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC) and the ability to support enterprise coding guidance, audits, and education. Remote work may be approved for certain states; 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 5 years of expert-level professional coding or hospital-based coding experience.
• AHIMA/AAPC credentials such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CCP or CPC.

Responsibilities

• Research and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements for accurate coding.
• Develop, maintain, and update coding guidance and reference materials for enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits and verify documentation completeness and accuracy.
• Track audit findings and compliance risks, documenting trends and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare summaries and reports for leadership and quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with Integrity Operations, coding leadership, clinicians, and education teams to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
