Job summary

Veyra is seeking an experienced Estimating & Proposal Engineer to develop accurate cost estimates and compelling proposals for water and wastewater projects. You will collaborate across Regional Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Product Management, Purchasing, and Legal to define project scope and cost bases behind proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a civil/mechanical/chemical/environmental/construction field.
• 5+ years in cost estimating, proposal engineering, or technical sales support.
• 3+ years estimating equipment with installation/construction scope.
• Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, and specs; perform quantity takeoffs.
• Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat divisions relevant to process and water/wastewater.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating supplier/subcontractor bids.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation install methods.
• Understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and systems.
• Advanced Excel; Salesforce and MS Office.
• Clear technical writing for scope narratives and clarifications.
• Comfort using AI tools and validating outputs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for standard products, custom equipment, installation, and construction.
• Issue RFQs, compare bids, document lead times, freight, validity, and escalation assumptions.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Estimate labor, subcontractor, equipment rental, site work, mobilization, startup, and commissioning costs.
• Apply contingency, escalation, warranty reserve, and risk allowances.
• Keep cost data current with Product Management and Purchasing.
• Assemble proposals and RFP responses across multiple business units.
• Develop scope narratives, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions.
• Provide cost basis to Regional Sales for pricing and margins.
• Recommend value-engineering options to improve competitiveness.
• Maintain opportunity, estimate, and proposal records in Salesforce.
