Job summary

OpenHands seeks an Enterprise Agent Engineer to build the automation server and control plane enabling scalable, auditable agentic workflows. You will craft high-quality reference agents and orchestration across tool integrations, with a focus on reliability and enterprise usability.

You will collaborate with Product, Enterprise, and Forward-Deployed teams to translate prototyped capabilities into durable product features, while measuring value in engineer time saved and system performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a software engineer building production systems.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic automations.
• Experience building backend or platform services: APIs, long-running systems, and the data and observability layers around them.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern developer workflows (CI/CD, Git-based collaboration, developer tooling).
• Fluency with the agentic toolkit: LLMs, prompt and context design, tool/API integration, MCP, evaluation, and workflow orchestration.
• An outcomes-driven mindset; you measure whether agents actually save engineers time, and iterate relentlessly until they do.
• Bonus: experience with auditing, observability, or governance/control-plane systems; AI developer tools (OpenHands, Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor); or significant open-source contribution

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the automation server that runs agentic automations at scale.
• Create the control plane: auditing, visibility, observability, governance for enterprise trust.
• Develop reference agents and automations with reusable examples and best practices.
• Design agent workflows end-to-end: tool/API integration, memory management, multi-step orchestration with human-in-the-loop.
• Instrument and evaluate agents for reliability, cost, latency, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with Product, Enterprise, and Forward-Deployed Engineering to turn ideas into durable product capabilities
