Job summary

Cyclops is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a founder-level squad focusing on a crypto payment platform. You will shape the team, own delivery outcomes, and set quality standards while aligning with Product and stakeholders.

This is a high-autonomy role emphasizing judgment, planning, and responsible execution. You will operate in US business hours with remote collaboration across time zones, contributing to architecture discussions and building scalable backend systems in a fast-growing

Qualifications

• 4-5+ years of engineering leadership experience (Engineering Manager, Team Lead).
• Hands-on backend engineering background with TypeScript or similar.
• Understanding of crypto and stablecoins domain.
• Confident use of AI tools in management workflow and AI-assisted development practices.
• Track record of hiring and onboarding engineers and conducting performance conversations.
• High agency: run the team with minimal supervision and own outcomes.
• Familiarity with SDLC, performance, reliability, security, observability and scalability.
• Ability to operate in a distributed, async-first team across timezones.
• Excellent English communication, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery and predictability with realistic commitments and visible progress.
• Build and grow the team, hire, onboard, set expectations and monitor workload.
• Own quality and stability habits, incident response, postmortems and reduced production bugs.
• Keep technical debt visible and managed, protect time for improvements.
• Own risks and transparency, escalate early and calmly, own decisions and outcomes.
• Establish team practices for AI-assisted development and ensure high-quality outputs.
• Maintain a strong remote/async culture with documented decisions and retrospectives.
• Ensure security and compliance hygiene in a regulated environment.
• Act as backup for Director of Engineering in incident management and regulatory reporting.
• Manage stakeholders: collaborate with Product on priorities and with QA/Infra/Support.
