Job summary

Cyclops is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a new squad building a crypto payment platform. You will own delivery, code quality, team growth, and architectural decisions, collaborating with Product and QA across time zones. Remote-first role with US business hours and a focus on autonomy and accountability.

You will shape the team, hire engineers, and promote AI-assisted development practices while maintaining security, reliability, and observability across the stack.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of engineering leadership experience, owning a team with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on backend engineering background (TypeScript or similar) with strong system design.
• Understanding of crypto and stablecoin domain; on-the-job learning required.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery and predictable cadence with visible progress to stakeholders.
• Build and grow the team: hire, onboard, set expectations, monitor workload.
• Own quality and stability: incident handling, postmortems, reduce production bugs.
• Keep technical debt visible and managed with product; protect time for improvements.
• Own risks and transparency: identify top risks, escalate early, own outcomes.
• Establish AI-assisted development practices with quality gates and documentation controls.
• Maintain strong remote/async culture with documented decisions and retrospectives.
• Ensure security and compliance hygiene in a regulated environment.
• Act as backup for Director of Engineering in incident management and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate closely with Product on priorities and cross-functional support.
