Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Underwriter for its Excess & Surplus/Specialty team. You will analyze risks, price coverage, and determine terms, with limited authority, to balance customer needs and company goals.

You will collaborate with UW leaders, brokers, and program managers to drive profit, quality, and service. Travel to agency offices for audits and training may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lines underwriting policies, practices and procedures.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage and contribute to underwriting processes.

Responsibilities

• Review risks and determine acceptance based on information from agents or programs.
• Develop premium charges and determine endorsements to address loss exposures.
• Achieve production and loss ratio goals through broker and territory management.
• Negotiate and maintain relationships with agents and reinsurers.
• Support policy maintenance and mid-term requests as needed.
