Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an experienced underwriting professional for its Excess & Surplus/Specialty team. You will analyze risks, develop rates with actuarial support, and collaborate with finance and claims to optimize profitability. The role requires handling large, complex accounts and supervising junior staff.

Travel to broker offices as needed, and contribute to marketing and training initiatives. An undergraduate degree is preferred, with CPCU/CIC/AU/ARM/CPIW/CWIS/ASLI designations

Qualifications

• Eight years CL underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts.
• Knowledge of complex CL underwriting policies, practices and procedures.
• Experience with catastrophe management, pricing theory and reinsurance concepts.

Responsibilities

• Researches and develops new classes of business with actuarial support.
• Analyzes risk, determines premiums, endorsements and exclusions.
• Mentors underwriting talent and educates brokers and SSU students.
