Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an Underwriting Specialist in Contract for its Excess & Surplus/Specialty (E&S/S) lines. You will determine risk acceptability, pricing, and terms for complex accounts while working with general agents and program managers to achieve profitability.

The role requires deep analytical and negotiation skills, strong knowledge of underwriting policies, and the ability to work independently with substantial authority. Travel to agency offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Six years related experience or five years as an underwriter, E&S/Specialty preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review risks with agents or programs and decide to accept or decline.
• Quote, price and underwrite new and renewal policies for complex or service-sensitive accounts.
• Review endorsements, changes, and loss control recommendations; process mid-term requests.
• Develop and maintain relationships with general agents and reinsurers.
