Job summary

Nationwide seeks an experienced underwriter for Excess & Surplus/Specialty (E&S/S) to analyze risks, price exposures, and issue endorsements. You will collaborate with UW leaders, manage broker relationships, and help drive profitable growth in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have at least three years in underwriting, familiar with CPCU/CPIW-type courses, and a strong grasp of risk selection, pricing, and policy terms. This role requires travel and a commitment to Nationwide values.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Three years related experience or prior experience as an underwriter, excess & surplus lines preferred.
• Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review risks and determine acceptability, pricing, endorsements and exclusions.
• Achieve production, profitability and service objectives; quote and underwrite policies and endorsements.
• Manage broker relationships and territory; advise on endorsements and policy changes.
• Monitor risk selection and pricing for agency plant at the account level.
• Support marketing and development of new business in targeted industries.
