Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking an E&S Complex Claims Specialist to handle the company's most complex and challenging claims. This is a fully remote position with responsibilities including coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation and disposition of assigned claims.

The role requires strong litigation management skills, strategic thinking, and adherence to company policies and authority levels. Travel up to 20% for mediations and trials may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in complex coverage analysis and large loss evaluations.
• Experience with E&S claim preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, negotiation and claim disposition skills.
• Excellent presentation skills and proficiency with MS Office.
• Sufficient keyboarding proficiency for data entry.
• Multi-State licensing with Medicare reporting knowledge preferred.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and resolve coverage issues for all lines of business and liability types.
• Investigate claims via telephone, correspondence, and personal contact with claimants or attorneys.
• Manage vendors and expenses effectively.
• Analyze information to assess loss and assign experts when needed.
• Evaluate, negotiate and resolve claims within delegated authority ($100,000–$400,000).
• Provide reports to claims, underwriting, reinsurance and actuarial teams.
