Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking a skilled General Liability Claims Specialist to handle a diverse portfolio remotely across the company footprint. The ideal candidate will manage claims end‑to‑end, evaluate coverage, and negotiate settlements with a focus on accuracy and timely disposition.

Candidates should have five or more years of GL claims experience, with preference for Southern jurisdictions, strong communication, and solid judgment within delegated authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Five+ years of commercial General Liability claims handling experience preferred.
• Experience handling GL claims in the Southern jurisdictions preferred.
• Experience evaluating bodily injury and third‑party property damage claims preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of General Liability claims from initial report through resolution.
• Investigate coverage, liability, and damages by gathering information from insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and other relevant parties.
• Analyze policy coverage and issue required claim correspondence in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.
• Evaluate claim exposures, establish and maintain appropriate reserves, and negotiate fair and timely settlements within delegated authority.
• Coordinate with defense counsel, experts, and other service providers on litigated or complex claim matters.
• Identify recovery opportunities, including contribution and subrogation, when applicable.
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation, payments, and expense approvals in the claims management system.
• Partner effectively with insureds, agents, underwriters, and internal teams to deliver a responsive and high-quality claims experience.
• Recognize potential fraud indicators and refer matters in accordance with company procedures.
