Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking a Claims Litigation Specialist for a remote position. Investigate, negotiate, and conclude complex litigated claims across multiple states, with expertise in commercial and personal lines, coverage, and contractual issues.

Manage defense counsel to ensure cost effective resolutions and compliance with company policies from start to finish. You will oversee negotiations, review depositions and expert reports, coordinate medical examinations when needed, and support

Qualifications

• Must be able to handle litigation files from start to finish.
• College degree preferred.
• 7-10 years of GL Litigation Claims experience.
• Thorough knowledge of New York Labor Law preferred.
• Knowledge of Risk Transfer.

Responsibilities

• Investigate litigated claims and attend depositions, mediations and trials as needed.
• Analyze information from discovery to evaluate claims and determine extent of loss.
• Process incoming calls and correspondence regarding claims and interact with underwriters and agents.
• Evaluate, negotiate, and settle litigated claims within delegated authority.
• Update claims status and communicate negligence determinations.
• Prepare and manage expenses, and explore salvage and subrogation when applicable.
• Prepare for and participate in claims review and settlement conferences.
• Close claims by issuing checks or denials and securing releases.
• Participate in yearly trainings for the litigation/CCU unit and may require travel.
