Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is hiring an Underwriting Specialist – Specialty (Wholesale) to join our growing E&S Casualty team. This role may be remote or hybrid across the US (excluding NY and CA) with travel as needed.

You will underwrite, solicit, and manage Specialty accounts aligning with portfolio goals and appetite. You’ll apply technical and sales skills to provide insurance solutions, work with trading partners, and help drive profitable growth while coordinating with Hanover

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-7+ years Specialty or standard commercial lines experience.
• 3-4+ years’ experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage Specialty accounts with wholesale trading partners.
• Apply underwriting concepts: risk selection, exposure, hazard identification, coverage and loss analysis.
• Explain account decisions with clear rating instructions for quotes.
• Manage portfolio to meet growth, profitability, retention and mix goals.
• Collaborate with other Hanover departments to leverage cross-unit opportunities.
