Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Specialist Specialty – Merit Specialty (Wholesale) to join our growing team. The role supports underwriting, sales and portfolio management for E&S Casualty, with hybrid or remote arrangements available across the US (excluding CA/NY).

Candidates should have strong analytical and relationship-building skills and travel as needed. The ideal candidate will apply technical underwriting, sales, and risk management skills to deliver profitable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
• 3-7+ years Specialty or standard commercial lines experience.
• 3-4+ years driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change, identify, analyze, and solve problems.
• Excellent communication with internal and external partners; ability to influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites and quotes Specialty accounts following guidelines and uses appropriate tools.
• Manages portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability, rate, retention, and product mix goals.
• Identifies, solicits, pipelines, negotiates, and closes new business with agents; collaborates with other Hanover units.
