Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking a Director of Web Experience Design to shape the vision and strategy for our web ecosystem. You will lead and mentor a design team, driving experiences that help customers discover, evaluate, purchase, and engage with Cengage products and services.

You will collaborate across Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to test ideas, optimize conversion, and deliver measurable business impact. A strong portfolio and leadership in ecommerce-focused design are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior Web Experience Design role, including 3+ years of people management.
• Strong experience with ecommerce, growth, conversion optimization, or other transactional digital experiences.
• Deep expertise in UX and UI design principles, accessibility, and modern design processes.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills; able to influence senior leaders.
• Portfolio is required to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience and define UX/UI strategy.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to run experiments.
• Advance ecommerce and conversion experiences across customer journeys.
• Design coherent experiences across acquisition to engagement.
• Use data to identify opportunities and prioritize improvements.
• Build a culture of continuous optimization and iterative learning.
• Stay ahead of web trends, AI-enabled experiences, accessibility, and new tech.
• Develop outstanding design talent through coaching and mentoring.
