Job summary

You will lead a design team, ground decisions in customer insights and data, and collaborate with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to reduce friction, test ideas, and drive measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management experience leading high-performing design teams.
• Experience with ecommerce, growth, conversion optimization or other transactional digital experiences.
• Deep expertise in UX and UI design principles, human-centered design, information architecture, accessibility and modern design processes.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills; ability to influence senior leaders and tie design decisions to outcomes.
• Portfolio is required to be considered for the position.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience with a clear UX/UI strategy for discovery, understanding, evaluation, purchase and engagement.
• Make experimentation central to design by partnering with Product, Marketing, Analytics and Engineering to develop hypotheses and run tests.
• Advance ecommerce and conversion experiences to improve high-value moments.
• Design across the full customer journey from acquisition to engagement to ensure coherent experiences.
• Use data to identify and prioritize opportunities via qualitative research, analytics, funnel performance and experiments.
• Build a culture of continuous optimization with ongoing measurement, testing, and learning.
• Stay ahead of evolving web and design practices, including AI-enabled experiences, personalization and accessibility.
• Develop outstanding talent by coaching designers and building leadership.
