Job summary

IPS - Integrated Project Services, LLC is seeking a Design Safety Engineer to join our team across U.S. office locations (MA, NJ, PA, MD, NC, KS, CA) or remotely.

You will help develop, implement, and maintain the IPS Design Division Safety Program to ensure designs are safe to construct, operate, and maintain. The role requires coordinating safety reviews (PHA, HAC, HAZOP/LOPA), supporting field safety, and training IPS personnel.

Qualifications

• Has sufficient technical proficiency in process safety to understand project requirements.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College in Engineering, Architecture, or a relevant science.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 requirements.
• Experience interacting with cross-functional facility owner teams.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality process safety support with the Director.
• Coordinate with the director, project managers, and clients to determine scope, complexity, planning, and scheduling.
• Determine the type of safety reviews required for the specific project (PHA, HAC, HAZOP, etc.).
• Facilitates PHAs and design risk assessments using HAZOP, What-if, HAZID, LOPA, etc.
• Coordinate planning, resource scheduling, and compliance with client standards.
• Supports the development and implementation of IPS process safety programs (PHA, PRD, LEL, HAC).
• Develops departmental policies, technical standards, and procedures.
• Provides technical review for related reports and documentation.
• Trains IPS personnel on process safety management.
• Coordinates with outside consultants for training and resourcing.
• Performs process safety calculations related to PRD, LEL, and HAC.
• Reviews facility designs for containment, biosafety, radiation safety, etc.
• Consults with colleagues and clients on hazards and mitigation strategies.
• Estimates work hours to generate project deliverables.
• Ensures quality and compliance with IPS standards and codes.
• Delivers project deliverables on schedule.
• Participates in business development and proposals.
• Evaluates training and awareness programs for design personnel.
