Job summary

Defcon AI is seeking a Program Contracts Manager to own the contract operations backbone for a major US defense program. You will manage contracts and subcontracts, create executable structures, and ensure alignment of deliverables, invoices, and obligations to program goals.

You will draft, negotiate, and administer subcontract language, manage milestones, and build scalable processes that enable delivery while reducing risk. The role is remote and impacts senior program execution.

Qualifications

• Experience administering and negotiating contracts and subcontracts in a U.S. defense contracting environment.
• Experience drafting, redlining, and negotiating contract language.
• Experience translating prime contract requirements into subcontract flow-downs.
• Experience supporting milestone-based deliverables and contract execution.
• Experience building lightweight repeatable processes in fast-moving or immature environments.
• Ability to operate independently within a matrixed organization.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity, making defensible decisions without complete information, and adjusting as the program evolves.
• US Citizen

Responsibilities

• Own contract and subcontract operations for the program, including lifecycle management and modifications.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and administer subcontract agreements and modifications.
• Translate prime requirements into subcontract structures and maintain records and milestones.
• Coordinate with program leadership and finance on positions and negotiations.
• Develop milestone tracking and contract execution artifacts; support invoice readiness.
• Build scalable contract governance templates, trackers, and processes.
• Support leadership with change-impact assessments and actionable recommendations.
• Escalate complex issues with facts, options, and recommended actions.
